Hello there, my name is Charles, I'm 30 and am writing this with
a little hope and without the knowledge of the most important person in the world to me, my girlfriend of two years, I will
not state her name, well just in case, she would kill me, she would never allow me to do this.
The problem is my girlfriend is in considerable debt (14,000 pounds - thats about 25,000 US
dollars), it would be a dream to have a few kind people donate and just halve this amount, she is truly a wonderful
caring person and deserves to be in a better situation, I must say however that I believe it is not correct
and ethical to receive a handout in this way and abuse peoples kindness, so I made a promise to myself that should this donate
thing workout I would give back what I could to charity and help other people more unfortunate than me and my girl.
We both share a small flat in London, UK. I have a low paid job
even though desperately trying for something better paid and can just about afford to pay for food and help pay half the rent.
How did she end up in this mess?
She was in a loveless marriage and got divorced three years ago just
before she met me, she lost her job and being desperate ended up getting loans just to cope with the cost of daily living,
she has been working for the last two years, often 6 days a week as a phychiatric nurse and just about manages to pay bills
and loans owed on her income at the end of the month, with the situation seeming to get worse each month, the result is -
she will end up struggling like this for the next 5 long years or more.
To be honest, I often think, it could be a lot worse, we both have a
roof over our heads, we have each other and there are so many people out there with much more serious problems, but then again,
it hurts me a lot to be helpless to help the person I love the most and see her struggle for many years without much of a
life, it would be nice to get out of this situation and start doing things we have only been dreaming of and finally start
living a little.
